Technical Skills

Proficient in the following languages and applications: Working knowledge of:

So, what do you do?

As evidenced by my resume, I have often answered this age-old question, “Whaddaya got?” With varying degrees of competence, I’ve filled roles at ad agencies, in community boardrooms and on Wall Street trading floors. But at my core, I’m a versatile copywriter and tech-savvy web content strategist.

Create dense, technical content? Sure.

Write pithy, headline-driven ads? Sounds fun.

Proofread “adult” content? Sorry, that's where I draw the line.

First priority for any hiring manager is to ensure a candidate can do the job. But it's also important to be selective about who you bring into the office. So, it’s understandable that people tend to hire people they already know. With this in mind, here’s my initial effort to become someone you know.

Things I never say:

  • That’s not my job.
  • Are you going to eat that?
  • Did you see Housewives last night?
  • You know, Ted Nugent has a point.

Things I often say:

  • I’m going for a long run.
  • My wife and I like Chicago better than New York.
  • You’ve never seen Raising Arizona?!
  • I’m almost done with Team of Rivals.

Can we talk?

All that said, I always appreciate the opportunity to talk in person and can be reached at the phone number listed above and on my resume. I can also be found hitting refresh on my Gmail – stevenrmcfarland (followed by the ‘at’ sign and the rest of it).

When a new office building is opened, workers have lots of questions. Those questions multiply when the building is built and maintained according to LEED protocol. Utilizing the electronic monitors installed in building elevators, we educated tenants on recycling and other green-related aspects of their new work environment.
